Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., known as Shatta Wale, is a Ghanaian dancehall artist born in 1984 in Accra who rebranded himself in 2013 and quickly became one of Africa's biggest dancehall acts with his breakthrough hit "Dancehall King." He won Artiste of the Year at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards and earned international recognition when he featured on Beyoncé's "Already" from The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack in 2019.
