Flavour N'abania, born Chinedu Izuchukwu Okoli on November 23 1983 in Enugu State, is a Nigerian singer, multi-instrumentalist, and guitarist who has become one of the foremost champions of Igbo Highlife music and culture. He studied music at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu and released his debut album Nigezie in 2005, introducing his distinctive blend of Highlife rhythms, Igbo language lyrics, and contemporary Afrobeats production to national audiences. His breakthrough album O2 (2013) produced the massive hit Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix) featuring Sem and became one of the best-selling Nigerian albums of the year. Songs including Chinny Baby, Ada Ada, and Beautiful Lady demonstrated his ability to craft romantic, danceable music while honouring Igbo cultural traditions. He has consistently used his platform to champion Igbo language and culture, insisting on releasing music primarily in Igbo even as the industry pressure toward English and Pidgin has intensified. Flavour N'abania has won multiple Headies Awards and Nigeria Entertainment Awards and has collaborated with artists including Femi Kuti, Phyno, 2Baba, and Yemi Alade. His tireless championing of Highlife and Igbo cultural identity has made him a beloved figure in southeastern Nigeria, where he is celebrated as a cultural standard-bearer. He continues to release music that introduces younger audiences to the Highlife tradition while keeping it contemporary and relevant.
