Biography
D'Prince, born Nicholas Anidugbe in Lagos State, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and record executive who is the younger brother of music producer Don Jazzy. He was signed to Mo'Hits Records alongside Wande Coal and Dr. SID in the late 2000s, releasing music that fit neatly within the sophisticated Afrobeats sound the label had established. His debut single Exotic in 2008 introduced him to Nigerian audiences as a relaxed and charismatic artist with a natural ear for melody. After the dissolution of Mo'Hits Records in 2012, D'Prince joined his brother at the newly formed Mavin Records and released further music while simultaneously taking on an A&R and executive role at the label. He is widely credited as the person who discovered Rema, the superstar artist who went on to become one of the biggest names in global music in the early 2020s, having signed him to his own imprint Jonzing World under the Mavin umbrella in 2019. D'Prince released the well-received 2019 single Feelings featuring Rema, which became a significant commercial hit and introduced his most capable protégé to the world. His dual role as artist and label executive at one of Nigeria's premier music companies has given him an influential position in the industry that extends well beyond his recording output. He remains an active member of the Mavin Records family and continues to release music while developing new talent.
